Na 23 jaar afwezigheid maakte de legendarische Spyker C8 Double 12R afgelopen weekend zijn langverwachte rentree tijdens de Le Mans Classic. Voor ons bij Tachyon Motorsport was het een bijzondere eer om verantwoordelijk te zijn voor de technische voorbereiding, het onderhoud en de volledige track support van deze iconische Le Mans-raceauto.

In samenwerking met Spyker Cars en het Spyker Squadron gingen we dit bijzondere avontuur aan. Het doel was duidelijk: de Spyker C8 Double 12R na meer dan twee decennia weer betrouwbaar en competitief aan de start brengen van een van de meest prestigieuze historische autosportevenementen ter wereld. Dat dit project zoveel aandacht kreeg vanuit de internationale autosportwereld laat zien hoeveel betekenis deze auto nog altijd heeft.

Een extra bijzonder moment was de terugkeer van Hans Hugenholtz achter het stuur. Hans reed in 2003 met de Spyker tijdens de 24 Hours of Le Mans en kreeg nu, ruim twintig jaar later, opnieuw de kans om met dezelfde auto over het iconische Circuit de la Sarthe te rijden tijdens de Le Mans Classic.

Het weekend verliep voor het hele team uiterst succesvol. De Spyker reed probleemloos alle trainingen, kwalificaties en races en wist iedere sessie de finish te bereiken. Bij een historische endurance-raceauto is betrouwbaarheid minstens zo belangrijk als prestaties op de baan. Achter dat resultaat gaat een intensief traject schuil van technische inspecties, revisie, onderhoud, afstelling en continue begeleiding gedurende het volledige evenement. Juist die combinatie van voorbereiding en ondersteuning op locatie zorgt ervoor dat een auto optimaal kan presteren wanneer het erop aankomt.

Voor Tachyon Motorsport bevestigt dit project waar wij dagelijks mee bezig zijn. Spyker C8 Double 12R Returns to Le Mans Classic After 23 Years

Prepared and Supported by Tachyon Motorsport

After an absence of 23 years, the legendary Spyker C8 Double 12R made its long-awaited return to Le Mans Classic last weekend. For all of us at Tachyon Motorsport, it was a genuine privilege to be entrusted with the technical preparation, maintenance and complete track support of this iconic Le Mans racing car.

Working alongside Spyker Cars and the Spyker Squadron, we took on the challenge of returning the Spyker C8 Double 12R to one of the world’s most prestigious historic motorsport events. Our objective was clear: to ensure that, more than two decades after its last appearance, the car was once again reliable, competitive and ready to perform on the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe. The worldwide attention surrounding the car throughout the event only highlighted the lasting significance of the Spyker name in endurance racing.

Adding to the occasion was the return of Hans Hugenholtz to the driver’s seat. Hans competed with the Spyker in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2003, and more than twenty years later he was reunited with the very same car to drive it once again at Le Mans Classic.

The weekend proved to be an outstanding success for the entire team. The Spyker completed every practice session, qualifying session and race without issue, taking the chequered flag every time it went out on circuit. With a historic endurance racing car, reliability is every bit as important as outright performance. Achieving this result required months of meticulous preparation, careful maintenance, detailed technical inspections, setup work and continuous engineering support throughout the event. It is this combination of thorough preparation and professional trackside support that allows a historic racing car to perform at its very best when it matters most.
